Privacy policy

For Cartly Groceries (“Cartly”). Written in plain language, because that’s how it should be. Effective October 21, 2026.

The short version

We collect the minimum needed to run a grocery price-comparison app: your account email for sign-in, and the shopping lists and activity you create in the app. We do not sell personal data. We do not run third-party advertising trackers in the app or on this website.

What we collect

  • Account email address — used to sign you in (including one-time sign-in codes) and to send account-related email. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address from that provider.
  • Your lists and in-app activity — the products you add to your list, check off, view, and the stores you open, stored so your list syncs across your devices and so features like “Add It Again” and your purchase history can work.
  • Addresses you save in the app — only if you choose to add them, so the app can show stores relevant to you.
  • Basic technical information — such as app version and error logs, used to fix bugs and keep the service running.
  • Emails you send us — if you contact support or report a price, we keep that correspondence so we can reply and follow up.

We do not ask for your phone number. This website (cartlyapp.ca) has no analytics or advertising trackers.

How we use it

  • To sign you in and keep your account secure.
  • To store and sync your lists, history and preferences.
  • To show and improve price comparisons, and to understand — in aggregate — which features are useful.
  • To send the account emails you expect (sign-in codes, and replies to your messages). Marketing email is only ever sent with consent, and always with a working unsubscribe.

What we never do

  • We never sell your personal data.
  • We never share your lists or activity with retailers or platforms for their marketing.
  • We never use third-party advertising trackers in the app or on this website.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to run Cartly — for example, database and authentication hosting, and email delivery. They process personal data only to provide those services to us, under their own security and privacy commitments. Prices and product information shown in Cartly come from public retailer listings on Instacart and DoorDash; that product information is not personal data.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your account data is kept while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing [email protected] from your account address. We may keep limited records where the law requires it (for example, correspondence about a report).

Your choices

  • Use Cartly on the web or in the app with the same account — your data follows your account, not the device.
  • Ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion: [email protected].
  • Unsubscribe from any marketing email with the link in that email; account emails like sign-in codes are not marketing and can’t be opted out of while you use the account.

Children

Cartly is a grocery shopping tool intended for adults managing household shopping. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update this page and note the new effective date. Continuing to use Cartly after a change means the updated policy applies.
